Looking at personal identity
Sewathon, Benson Community School, Hockley and Fierce!
Karina worked primarily with two groups of Year 4 and 5 pupils on a project on personal identity. Pupils had been selected because of they were isolated or lacked confidence. Using the quilt pattern ‘Grandmother’s flowers’ as a starting point pupils discussed the people, places and things that were important to them and represented them with different fabrics, images and drawings. The project culminated with sew-a-thon day where all 360 children in the school stitched a quilt ‘block’.
